Genting Hong Kong Ltd, a subsidiary of Malaysian gaming company Genting Bhd, said it had appointed Michael Go as president of its Dream Cruise business and head of international sales for Genting Cruise Line.

Genting Hong Kong operates cruise ships with casinos (example photo) and primarily serves customers departing from ports in southern China and Singapore. The company also has a stake in the resort's World Manila casino resort in the Philippines.

The company issued a written statement on Friday saying Mr Koh would be based in Singapore under Genting Cruise Line boss Kent Ju.

The statement said Mr. Ko has 30 years of experience in the Asian hospitality industry. He joined Genting Hong Kong 20 years ago. Prior to his recent appointment, he was senior vice president of Crystal Cruise Brands, which is responsible for overseas sales of Dream Cruise and Star Cruise brands and is responsible for Asian sales and marketing.

"With his strong relationship in the travel industry, he will come up with a sales and marketing strategy for the successful arrival of two 204,000 tonnes of global class vessels in 2021," the statement quoted Hong Kong's chief executive, Lim Kok-tai, as saying of Mr Koh

The ships are under construction in Germany.

The Genting Hong Kong statement quoted Koh as saying, "As chairman of Dream Cruise, I look forward to the next chapter and the possibilities that lie ahead."

In March, Genting Hong Kong reported a 13% decline in its full-year net loss in 2018 to about $210.9 million. That brought its full-year revenue to $1.6 billion, up 34% as the company repositioned two of its latest ships on cruises departing from the southern Chinese port.
